Historic Ship Nautilus (in service 1986 – ongoing)

  • Arrived in Groton, CT: July 6, 1985 (undertow and after a historic ship conversion)
  • Opened as exhibit at Submarine Force Museum: April 11, 1986

The USS Nautilus continues her service to this country, with active duty US Navy submariners stationed as part of the Historic Nautilus Crew. Visitors to the Submarine Force Library and Museum, located adjacent to the Naval Submarine Base New London are able to tour through her hull and learn about the numerous “firsts” that happened during her years of service. Through education, Nautilus is able to intrigue and inspire the next generation of submariners for our country.
